The image of Shiri Bibas’s coffin, marked by Hamas with the words “Prisoner from October 7th”, is beyond horrifying. This is the same Hamas that kidnapped Shiri and her two babies, Kfir and Ariel, from their home. The same Hamas that murdered them. And today, in Gaza, civilians brought their own children to watch this family return home in coffins, as they cheer for Hamas. This is unbearable. The world is shocked today. But in two days? Many will move on. Many will chant “Free Palestine” without understanding what our enemy looks like. Without acknowledging the atrocities committed. And without recognizing that Israelis and Jews are targeted simply for being Jewish. I'm sorry, Shiri, Kfir, and Ariel, that we weren’t able to bring you back alive. I’m so sorry for Yarden, who lost his entire family. I’m so sorry for Dana's Shiri’s sister, who not only lost her parents but also her only sister and nephews. This is one family—one out of hundreds—who endured this nightmare and faced the most horrific ending. One family that became a symbol forever.
